Studio Maternity

Talayah’s studio maternity session went so well. She brought a few of her own outfits she wanted incorporated in her session, and she also chose his brown/nude maternity dress I have offered in my client closet. We kept things simple, but I played around in Photoshop and was able to create different textured “backdrops” for her session and gave her a diverse gallery with the client closet maternity dress.

You can see here I created a speckled backdrop with dark gray and blue tones. Talayah was expecting a baby boy at the time, so I wanted to offer masculine tones in her photography session, but we also hit a feminine side too with her outfit changes.

I always keep fake flowers in the studio for a variety of session set ups. I use them mostly with my newborn sessions, but flowers can go with anything. When we went to the rest stop in Hurricane, WV for the second half of her session, she changed outfits one last time. Talayah brought with her a slim cotton dress that showed off her baby bump beautifully. The weather was absolutely gorgeous too with the sun setting right on time. I tried to get more creative when with the outdoors since I had room to step back and capture angles. I created a lot of angles in her body too with bending her arms in certain degrees and deflecting her fingers outwards.

Being a motherhood, birth, and infant Photographer has really changed my world. There’s nothing I could appreciate more than a mothers power, and being able to capture it all. Infant photos are something we dont think about as often as we should, but the first few weeks of your baby’s life will absolutely fly by.

I was definitely aiming for a very natural and organic vibe during the outside portion. She removed her shoes and I added the dried and wooden flowers tossed on the ground beside her. It really was such a beautiful location next to the Hurricane Rest Stop on I-64 towards Charleston. It seemed the best eye catching places are always next to the interstate.
