Newborn Photography in the studio

I have been getting a lot of last minute bookings lately for some baby photos. I’ll almost never turn any away regardless of age, I am just sure to discuss expectations with parents since it is a lot harder to get those adorable sleepy poses with older babies. For me, I can’t see a successful newborn photoshoot with a baby older than 2 months.

This little guy here was 36 days old when I took his newborn photos. I won’t lie, I was very nervous since this was the older baby I have photographed. Although, I was so shocked when we reached the end of the session on how awesome he did for his age!! The typical age preferred by newborn photographers is between 5-15 days of life.

I was prepared for his session by laying out lots of props and thinking of variation to insure his parents got a full gallery. Come to find out he let me pose him on the posing table and get lots of amazing sleepy shots.

I love adding variation in the table posing with adding little stuffs like this heart he is holding, floral crowns, and bonnets.
