A full Wedding Photographer’s day at Once Upon A Farm

When I arrived at Once Upon A Farm in Frazier’s Bottom West Virginia, I was shook. I grew up just 15 minutes down the road and passed this barn just about every day. I always loved staring at the horses when they were out. Always a beautiful black and white one just grazing outside. The venue wasn’t fully set up yet, but it had large round tables just fully decked out in gorgeous boho themed decor!

When I saw Kierra’s dress I was so blown away! The details were not only stunning, but it just absolutely matched her personality so well. The girls were already on site getting ready, and the guys showed up a little bit later fully dressed. The girls needed more time getting ready when the guys showed up, so I went ahead and did their group pictures. I was not expecting Matt’s suit! I knew with the color choice that their wedding pictures were going to photograph so beautifully. They weren’t doing a first look or a first touch, so we really had to be careful tip toeing around the venue making sure they didn’t see each other.

The flower girl was SO GORGEOUS!! She was the daughter of the maid of honor. The weather was calling for rain and we were terrified it was going to storm on us all. Luckily it was some sprinkle showers here and there and we made it through the ceremony dry. The wind was killer though! It made some pictures hard to capture, and made others stunning! Like this little flower girls dress and hair ☺️

I had to be sure I was close enough to Matt to capture his reaction when seeing his about-to-be beautiful wife walk down the aisle. I was suing my 40mm prime lens so I had to move quick. I could see his face get red, then turned my head to see her maid of honor crying. I’m so happy I turned around just in time to capture her wiping a tear away.

Before the ceremony, Kierra did a first look with her dad and brother. Her father could not hold back his emotions and connection with his daughter. Seeing them cry together was a beautiful moment to witness. It is definitely one of the reasons I love my job. Her brother didn’t tear up during their first look, but after the ceremony all the feelings and emotions of his sister being officially married hit at once and he couldn’t stop crying.

We spent the evening eating some wonderful food, and delicious deserts. I helped serve cake and clean up while Kierra and Matt spent time with each other enjoying their first meal as husband and wife. The owners of Once Upon A Farm were so nice and easy going, I’ll be happy to come back in 2023 to photograph not one, but two more weddings at Once Upon A Farm.

As a Kanawha county photographer, it’s always nice to get to travel to different areas and cities to do my work. It’s a pleasure keeping things ever-changing in my business while also serving my clients.
